2014 MINI Cooper Safety Ratings and Features

June 23, 2014

Braman MINI InteriorMINI Coopers are fun to drive, but are they safe? Mini knows that safety is just as important for their drivers as having a car that handles well and looks fantastic. After all, a company could have the best looking car in the world, but if there are no safety features and it has the poorest safety ratings possible, no one in their right mind would buy it.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated the 2014 Mini Cooper in various tests with an overall positive review. The results of the tests can be found on U.S. News and World Report and include:

  • Moderate Overlap Front Test Results – Good
  • Small Overlap Front Test Results – Not Rated
  • Side Impact Test Results – Acceptable
  • Rear Crash Protection Results – Good
  • Roof Strength Test Results – Acceptable

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to post any findings for the 2014 Mini Cooper, but the future is quite promising.

Of course, the MINI Cooper wouldn’t be this safe without the number of safety features included. They are literally everywhere. Driver’s side air bags, passenger side air bags, 4-wheel disc brakes and ABS, traction control, daytime running lights, electronic stability control, brake assist, and many more abound in the 2014 Mini Cooper. All of these come together to create a safety net for drivers and passengers alike should an unfortunate situation occur.

Not all safety measures are for potential accidents; a powerful security system is also in place – which protects the car from theft. And this isn’t just your typical alarm. There is an ignition disable device that actually prevents the car from starting if          the right original manufacturer key is not used.

The 2014 Mini Cooper is well worth it’s weight in gold, keeping you safe all while providing you with the joy of driving. So take home a new Mini Cooper the next time you visit Braman Mini.
