Meet the MINI John Cooper Works. The MINI JCW said its hellos at the Detroit North American International Auto Show last January, and already it has people buzzing with excitement. It’s got plenty of that classic MINI design, but there are some tweaks and differences throughout the car, making it unlike some of its forebears. Vice President of MINI of the Americas stated that the MINI John Cooper Works is the “highest performing and most fun to drive car” that MINI now has.
A quick look at the insides of the MINI JCW reveals a 228 horsepower, 2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine. It can get a top speed of 153 mph and goes from 0-60 in just 6.3 seconds. It also has 25 percent more torque than the other MINIs currently available. Need a quick stop after all that speed and pull? The MINI John Cooper Works comes with a sports brake system by Brembo. Not to mention the John Cooper Works wheels composed of light alloy and good-size air inlets on the front of the vehicle. It’s sporty and style all rolled into one zippy little package. And that’s just the beginning.
Once it hits the markets, the MINI John Cooper Works will be available in both a six-speed automatic or manual transmission, so if you like the feel of being in complete control of this speedy go-cart-at-it’s-finest design, you’ll be thrilled with the manual handling. While prices still have yet to be unveiled, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise if the MINI John Cooper Works appears at the same level of many popular MINIs. But no matter what the cost, it’s one of those cars that is well worth its weight in gold.
Keep an eye out for the MINI JCW and be sure to contact Braman MINI for a test drive the moment it’s on the lot!
