The Mini Cooper S 20 Years Edition replaces the typical Union Jack theme with an American flag theme in commemoration of the car’s 20th anniversary of being sold in the United States. After being in the automotive market for 43 years, the British marque – Mini (owned by German automaker BMW AG) – entered the US in 2002, introducing the famous small hardtop Mini Cooper. To mark 20 years in the United States, the British carmaker is ditching the Union Jack theme, rolling out the 2023 special edition of the four-door hardtop Mini Cooper with American flag.

Shoppers can find it in sleek Chili Red, Island Blue, and Pepper White finishes. It comes with a silver roof and mirror caps that sublimely blend with a piano black trim. The company adorned the car’s hood with a low-key red, white, and blue stripe on the driver’s side and a star slapped on the passenger side. The stripe extends along the sides of the vehicle to the back hatch. Other visual updates include C-pillar decals, door sill plates, and side scuttle inlays. The 2023 Mini Cooper USA flag shines in the taillights, and the car also comes with 17″ Tentacle-spoke glossy-black wheels. Other cool features include a panoramic moonroof and roof rails.

Engine Performance

Mini doesn’t mention changes in the 20 Years Edition’s powertrain, which means it shares the same power figures with the standard Cooper S. That being said, the Special Edition features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that cranks out 189 hp and 206 lb.-ft. of torque. That power is transferred to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Interior Features

Enter the 2023 Mini Cooper S, and you’ll find the 20 Years Edition logos on the steering wheel and against the Piano Black trims. According to Car and Driver, the steering wheel is finished in Napa leather, and the sports seats are wrapped in exquisite carbon-black leatherette. For enhanced comfort and convenience, Mini included heated front seats, a touchscreen navigation display, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay, a dynamic digital instrument cluster, and Bluetooth connectivity as standard features.
